Digital photography market is one of the fastest growing in the whole IT industry. Over the last three years it has doubled. Our country also contributes to funding and developing digital camera technology.

Nowadays the whole industry of amateur cameras tends to provide customers with as many pixels as possible. And this tendency is plain ridiculous. While last year’s standard moderately-priced cameras had 4-5 mega-pixels, this year, and at quite a moderate price (90-100 USD) too, one can buy a 7-mega-pixels digital photo camera.

Furthermore, less expensive items tend to have an increasing frame rate. Last year’s 15 standard frames per second developed into 30 frames per second now. A modest amateur film-maker will be more than satisfied with this value. He could make a short video of his holidays and avoid being disappointed with blurry images on the screen of his computer or Tv. These moderately-priced cameras, however, have one essential drawback, which is their inability to record the sound.

This season the market is able to offer cheaper cameras (from 200USD up) with quite expensive (up until recently) optical image stabilizer. This option automatically pushes the price higher by 50-60 USD. In case you forget, an optical image stabilizer compensates for the trembling of the hands (the so called shaky hands effect) or other vibrations and allows you to make a sharper and richer image.

Moreover, one more “useful” option of the contemporary digital cameras is worth mentioning: we can use a camera as an MP3-player. In most cases this additional feature is bound to affect the crucial options of the camera.
